From The Golden Fleece
Padraic Colum published a Children's Classic in the 1922 entitled the Golden Fleece. Given, he is retelling the stories In Translation, and all true scholars know that translation is not cool, but forgive him that and you will find the book to be worthy.
Even better are the illustrations of Willy Pogany. His purist usage of lineless yet bounded space within which imaginative minds are able to linger makes him one of my very favorites. The gentle manner in which he frees the viewer to finish the story is perfectly fitting for a work in translation.

...I have also fallen in love with the work of Peter Sis..."The Tree of Life" and "Starry Messenger" in particular...
