The View from Here

Celebrating graduation w/ the J side of the family up here in Taos. We have had every span of weather: 90 degree sunny mornings and 50s rainy afternoons. We forgot our camera hookup so pictures will come later. But this is what we've been looking at all week. Beautiful. I am taking advantage of the extra help and enjoying the luxury of holding my baby and looking into her eyes as much as possible. I know that when we are left on our own, Heidi will need more of mommy than she does right now with the cousins, grandparents, and daddy available throughout the day.

This is the best thing in the world. I missed it all: the tiny fists and toes, the wise, old-soul staredowns, the drowsy sighs of contentment, and silent, powerful communion of skin and hair and breath, the picture of Elsa under her daddy's chin...and the curious, loving pats from big sister. It is a beautiful time, and I love the view from here.

Smiling. That description brought back so many memories! Oh, you must be in heaven right now!

I cherish those same memories when you were the newborn, and I was the proud dad....oh so proud.
I'm still proud (though in a humble and most true and righteous sense).
