Hooray! (knock on wood)

Well, we were passed by and husband is better. Please, everyone pray for his work--for those who don't know he is trying to finish a dissertation by the time we have Elsa and that will be a miraculous thing in itself. I'm continually amazed by his strength and goodness in spite of everything he has going on right now....meanwhile, Heidi and I went to the aquarium--we haven't been since last fall and she really got into it this time! Here she is below interrupting a field trip.

We spent a lot of time with a little sea horse.

And she would have stayed at the above exhibit all day just to keep climbing the pretend rocks and sliding down them like an otter.
"Turtle!"
Seeing how we live in the desert, our aquarium is predictably compact so I let her do a lot of the leading.

She loved the stingrays.

This has nothing to do with the aquarium, but lately she likes to get a pillow and her blanket (from her crib) and set up shop on the floor with a book. This is maybe the first time she ever posed for the camera (emphasizing the book).

Meanwhile, after the aquarium we strolled through the botanical gardens which she thoroughly enjoyed.
It's so amazing to see how much more she is involved with everything--how excited she is (and how fast!). I love my bebe!

And for Auntie Huck, who sent us the little red crocs when she first got word that I was pregnant with Heidi: I hope you can tell how much she loves them! She starts asking for "crocs!" first thing every morning and wears them all day every day, everywhere! I've already bought her another pair for when she outgrows these...you knew just what she needed!

she is just so much like her mother: hiking and reading!! so cute! enjoy these precious uninterrupted times with heidi; as much as elsa will be a joy, the undivided attention you get to slather on your firstborn will cease once she is born. savor, savor savor....
