4th of July Parade Guffman Style
So for the most part this video speaks for itself.
Not shown: Dad's early arrival at 6 a.m. to save our seats.
Lessons learned: the Youth Parade implies that it consists of town youth on bikes. There are no floats, Shriners, candy thrown, clowns...and there is plenty of room to sit so you don't need to arrive two hours early.
And you don't need to rush to the puppet show for a front row seat. The auditorium emptied out fairly quickly throughout the show.
This is the stuff memories are made of.

THAT is hilarious. And, it's a classic Summer story.
Terhune Americana.......Wish I had been there!
Great Americans, one and all!
Miss Sherri
You guys wore jackets on the 4th of July?? What latitude was this?
That pretty much made me v. happy! Thanks for sharing!
A tiny town in the Midwest of course--we were on a bluff over Lake Michigan, thus the lake effect breeze...
smiled all the way through it. she's a love that heidi!
I don't know what part is my favorite--David's lament "There's no cell service", or "You've GOT to be kidding me!" when the "parade" finally turns the corner! Don't be surprised when the kids decide to host their own "parade" of friends and neighbors via bikes in a few years :)
Apparently you haven't heard that the S. Haven 4th of July parade is the best option in the area! Next year your family should see it, you'll actually see floats and get candy.:)
my favorite part BY far was the green float- and wow! he was cruising too! maybe someone should have reminded him he was in the parade!!!! ooooh oooh another thing I really enjoyed was the commentary! Reminded me of Brent! He used to pretend he was Howard Cossell! And interview everyone!
that was soooo funny and like Kelly - classic summerism!
Clearly the bedazzlement of the Speculator parade has ruined you and brother for enjoyment of the rest life has to offer. Love to you!
