Sierra Madre

Husband has always talked about where he lived as a child in Sierra Madre, CA. We spent the last two days here and it has been my favorite part of the trip. My pictures just look silly compared to how beautiful this place is in real life. It feels a little like a small town in the Midwest until you look up to see the mountains or notice that the weather is absolutely perfect even when it's raining or smell the 1000s of tropical flowers blooming all around....

We had breakfast at Mary's Mountain Market and Cafe--Oliver used to stop there as a kid on his way home from school to buy Jolly Ranchers. It's right at the base of a mountain, a dam, and an artist community. The people there are so laid back the owners forgot to charge us for breakfast! And we didn't notice for hours! Don't worry, we went back...
