Probably a good thing I didn't spend an hour making Martha's special whipped frosting which reaquired a candy thermometer. Daddy whipped up some good ole whipped cream and we let her have at it.

In utero
I can't believe my sweet baby is one today! It has all been a beautiful dream--Elsa travelled with me from coast to coast in her first year of life, from the Adirondacks to Yosemite National Park. We climbed mountains and played on beaches, toasted fireworks in Michigan and beautiful fairy gardens in Pennsylvania. It has been a busy time, but I can truly say I didn't miss a moment with you, Elsa! You slept with mommy until you were 8 months old and after just one or two nights of crying, you learned quickly to sleep on your own. I definitely miss your small, cuddly phase since now you can barely sit still to eat anymore, but I love this roly-poly thunder-thigh running around phase too.
You seem to be a pretty easy kid so far. I'm a little concerned about the habit we continue to see of you hitting your forehead on the floor when you get mad. It's kind of cute now but I hope you grow out of it. Sorry about the lack of pictures of just you--the first six months of your life it was because I never put you down and after that you never held still again. You are a beautiful, special girl and I just can't believe it's already been a year.
