Dada

Today Heidi and I were at the park trying out her new shoes. They're her first "big girl" shoes, like with rubber soles and everything. Oh, and retro stripes.

She was just talking to herself, but I kept hearing "Dada, Dada."

"Do you miss Dada?" I asked.

The other day her head popped up: "nursie," I swear that's what she said. And then back to business.

These little words are starting to jump out of her but they are so unexpected, it's like a voice from nowhere. Her little soul is unfolding like a flower and the thoughts bloom more coherently each day and become something I can hear. Crazy deep.

We like the Norah Jones song: Sunrise, where she sings Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. And I heard Heidi singing four little "oohs." I don't want to brag or anything, but I think she almost has perfect pitch. I want to say everything she does is perfect, but I'm a Calvinist after all. Come family worship time she is all about the total depravity.
