Yup

Round two begins. This is way, way earlier than we announced last time (like 6 weeks if that), but we're not holding out for any family visits and we're just too excited! We haven't even announced it in church yet--so this post can like, serve as a test to see who from there really reads my blog. That's fun, right?

I hope I read the test right is all. Lord knows I can't stand fake pregnancy announcements.

One Year: the Pixie Party

Heidi could tell it was a special day--she got to wear her new outfit from Jax and Penelope!

The Fairy Menu:
Grilled Chicken wands with mango dipping sauce
Nest filled with summer salad
Fiddlehead breadsticks
Fairy Berry Cupcakes
And a gorgeous chocolate pastry for the grownups!

Not so sure about candles...
Abgail was a most compliant and polite guest: wearing her fairy garland and assisting with logistical factors like candle extinguishing, etc.

The highlight seemed to be sharing cake with Da-da.

Dada

Today Heidi and I were at the park trying out her new shoes. They're her first "big girl" shoes, like with rubber soles and everything. Oh, and retro stripes.

She was just talking to herself, but I kept hearing "Dada, Dada."

"Do you miss Dada?" I asked.

The other day her head popped up: "nursie," I swear that's what she said. And then back to business.

These little words are starting to jump out of her but they are so unexpected, it's like a voice from nowhere. Her little soul is unfolding like a flower and the thoughts bloom more coherently each day and become something I can hear. Crazy deep.

We like the Norah Jones song: Sunrise, where she sings Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh. And I heard Heidi singing four little "oohs." I don't want to brag or anything, but I think she almost has perfect pitch. I want to say everything she does is perfect, but I'm a Calvinist after all. Come family worship time she is all about the total depravity.

Yawn: you've seen one airport, you've seen em all

I thought it would be so cute to catch Heidi's magical bewonderment on camera.

All she gave me was a yawn.

Kids these days.

One year

My blogging/writing has gone way down in the last year. Words are so much harder to come by when the most perfect expression we will ever make is hiccuping, crawling, and walking before my eyes, daring me to describe her.

Happy birthday, little deer!

Flyfishing with Daddy

She saw Daddy practicing with BobPod's practice rod and had to try it out.

A Little over a Year Ago...

I can't believe Heidi is almost a year old! I know my last post was kind of a downer--this year has had its hardships, but at the same time has been the best year of my life. Talk about Paradox!

Thanks to you, Heidi, and your sweet daddy, I have never had more fun or been more constantly delighted. You had me from the beginning. You are it. I love you.
