For yo_mamma: The End of an Era.

R.I.P.

Yup, after 12 years, the "sheath" has been retired from match play. Just thought I'd let you know.

5.5 months

She's been mobile for about a week now, but is really starting to perfect her speed...I caught her before she got into the Una's bowl if that's what you're asking.

Sorry, People

But this is so funny I must share. I think Alberto is from Santa Fe. Feel the love, ya'll.

Happy Birthday, Tink!!

A very happy birthday goes to my precious sister! Wow, where would I be if you were never born? Here's to singing on the hassock, running away from home and returning within 20 minutes, our secret knocking code on the wall between our bedrooms, countless movies, plays, concerts, and other things you patiently endured, suriving one day of daycare together, many years of homeschooling, and that first scary day at public school when we swore that whichever of us found people to eat lunch with first would make room for the other.

Here's to showing up at each other's colleges late at night, sharing the top bunk, living in GR on slim fast, dancing, ice cream, and Special K, and trying so hard to read the map. And my favorite: laying in a tent on an island beach, watching the lightning through the thin nylon SO close to our faces and holding hands so at least we would die together. I'm glad we didn't die. You are so dear to me and I am thankful for every moment with you.

Anniversary Memories

On January 5, 2006 we crossed over into our marriage together. Sometimes it felt like a tiny step, at other moments it felt like a cliff jump. Our faith was so central in our journey to marriage, and our faith is the thing which has brought us this far.

God has been so gentle with us--He has given us a lifetime of adventure and grace in just two years. What next? We definitely had a great anniversary celebration with the presence of Nana to watch Heidi so we could spend a whole day on the slopes, just the two of us!! So fun!! But of course I like to recognize family things on my little blog, so here's a few more anniversary celebratories....

Things I love and have loved:
*IMing you at work
*Santa Fe visits and capers
*Riding the mountains together
*Building fires
*When you get all creative in the kitchen and whip up something amazing
*When you bring me water at night and coffee in the morning
*Watching you present your work at school and conference
*When you carry the pack
*Sundays in the Parlor
*When you fix the tail lights
*Watching you play sports
*Walking in the foothills with you
*Our quest in daily family worship
*Discussing the details of Una
*Bedtime Stories
*Watching every moment of you and Heidi--especially shushing her to sleep
*Going to Movies with a quick stop at Walgreens to stash candy
*Experiencing the daily grace of you

Happy More Anniversary Husband!

Random Pix

Well this past month has been crazy busy in a really fun way--lots of family, airplanes, and Heidi growing faster than we can keep track of. She is perfecting the army crawl and venturing into the traditional crawl, sprouting her first tooth, eating solid food, and learning how to get really excited when she sees cute toys (she gets that from her mama). My mom and I took her to Gypsy Baby in Santa Fe and she went crazy over the toys she could ride (large dragon and rolly bee). My mom and I had a blast playing with her on the toys until we noticed the "please ask for assistance signs. Oops.

Here are a few random pix and maybe I'll actually blog soon...

What would we Do without you & Happy New Year!

Some days we rise and fall down again and make calls on our cell phones and wonder where the heck we are.

When we go back to see our families, we realize how far we are from our blood and the roads we knew.

It's like we have been catapulted across the continent into a life and a family that is so sudden and so new. And so, so precious.

And when we come back here and walk into a room filled with light and voices and games and love, we know we are home. We are where we have been placed. And we are so thankful for you all.

The desert is beautiful because it hides a well somewhere.

Happy New Year, Ya'll.
