Furry Boots
Heidi's a little tired of all this heat, so she decided to put on her new, furry boots (thanks Pinks, ABC, and Sixbit!).
And then she decided to do a snow dance, in hopes of cooling things down a bit:

Time for the Big Guns
This morning Becca and I trudged up the mountain again--trying hard to start labor.
A hawk flew out a few feet over our heads, circled us several times, and landed in a small tree just above us, staring down with her protective eye. I am sure she was guarding her nest.
That's exactly the kind of thing you want to tell your kid about the day she was born.
I am now ten days late, which is not a huge surprise but with each passing day my hopes for a natural, non-interventive birth seem farther away. So please pray. If things don't happen within 48 hours we are faced with induction decisions and that will be difficult. We will need much courage and faith that God will deliver us all safely and in His perfect timing.
And we know it will all be worth it.

Come as You Are

On the way to another nonstress test today some song came on the radio and Kendall and I were trying to figure out if it was Nirvana. Becca said something about Kurt Cobain and we were like: Becca, do you even know who he was? We are much older than her.
She rolled her eyes: "yes, duh, he was married to that grunge girl who killed him in their washing machine!"
We passed the nonstress test--the key is to laugh a lot and shake your belly when the tech isn't watching.

6 Days
left for Heidi to get here naturally. She did fine on the "non-stress" test and ultrasound so we have been allowed more time for nature to take its course. Thank you so much for your prayers and especially Erika for the red raspberry leaf tea--I'm drinking it like it's going out of style.
And Boodles made it here--we are keeping busy with hikes, yoga, swimming and keeping cool.
