An Open Letter from My Nephew

So baby Jaxon, who frequently stars in Happily Ever After can already write at three months old! He is truly amazing, and definitely takes after the Colquitts with his braininess. He already sent us a letter along with his three-month photo!

Here is what it said:

Dear Aunt Summer and Uncle O.J.

I love my cousin Una, but I really want a human cousin. Please make one for me soon.

Love,

Jaxon

Could there like, BE any more pressure?

Ever Striving: The Women's Retreat

I was really blessed to attend my church's women's retreat for the second year in a row. We had a wonderful time of fellowship and learning together.

Not a bad place to Be

The blogging has been slow. Life has been full. We are learning to cherish our hours at home & our time as a family as other obligations increase. Sorry if it's a little boring around here, but we are having a ball in real life.

I wouldn't say things are the easiest they've ever been. But maybe the happiest. Maybe the happiest ever in this life. Who knows what's in store, and we are thankful for every moment of everyday life we have. God is so kind to us.

As Promised

In case you can't see the photo, it contains lyrics to one of my all-time favorite hymns ever: "I'll Fly Away!"

There were two things that struck me most at the PCA Women in the Church conference:

1. Presbyertian women have a fairly unified asthetic in clothes, hair, music, jewelry, etc. Every lady there looked vaguely familiar to me, as if I knew them all from somewhere else. We like twinsets, pearls, headbands, and Vera Bradley bags. Actually it wasn't so much our taste that hit me as the fact that there were so many of us. I felt overwhelmed by our huge presence, by our powerful, unified voice singing hymns and yes, even using power point. I realized what a large movement the PCA really is, and was encouraged by the fact that there are so many of us striving together.

2. In such large numbers, we ought to be changing the world. Not because God needs it from us, but because if so many women (cute accessories and all) are truly loving our God and acting for His glory, there should be a widespread echo sounding to His Kingdom. Perhaps there is one resounding in Heaven. Most of the speakers talked about devotion to the church (Paige Benton Brown) and reaching out to the unsaved, particularly those women who are victims of abuse and trafficking (Diane Langberg) and those who suffer from physically (Joni Eareckson Tada). I came away with a great desire to reach outside of the church to those who are suffering, to the poor and needy. May the Lord remember them through us. May He not delay.
